3rd phase of feminization and nationalization aims at indoor and outdoor malls, as well as independent stores

    The Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) emphasized that the third phase of feminization and nationalization will target shops selling women necessities at indoor shopping centers, outdoor markets and independent stores starting from October 21 (1st Safar 1439 A.H).

     

    The ministry said it was expected to take off on October 2 last year, and the new date will give both establishments and employers the opportunity to prepare female-friendly workplace.

     

    It comes within the ministry’s efforts to ensure provision of proper, suitable and stable work environment and expand work fields for Saudi women in the private sector, contributing to productivity and motivation at workplace.

     

    Meanwhile, the third phase comes as part of the previously implemented two phases and targets shops selling women-only stuff including perfumes, shoes, bags, women socks, ready-to-wear cloths, kiosks and women fabrics, in addition to department stores selling women cloths along with other staples.

     

    It also targets independent stores that sell soiree gowns, wedding dresses, Abaya (cloaks), accessories, Jalabiyas (traditional dresses) and mother-care products, as well as involving pharmacies with sections that sell accessories and cosmetics located in indoor malls.
